CIAC is pleased to present the “1946-1976: The Cinema of Mediterranean Europe from the Post-War Era to the Collapse of the Dictatorships” conference, to be held on February 20, at 3:00 p.m., in the Faculty of Human and Social Sciences (Room 2.35), at the University of the Algarve.
Starting from a historical perspective, the aim of this conference is to reflect on several aspects of Mediterranean Europe films, in a period representing a true golden age, characterised by the emergence and heyday of so-called ‘auteur cinema’ (accompanied by the development of the ‘film society’ movement), and by the vibrancy of a film genre, which managed to rival Hollywood.
The event will be attended by Mirian Tavares, Ana Isabel Soares, Adriana Nogueira, Jorge Carrega, Olivia Fernandez, Filipa Cerol, William Pianco and Anabela Moutinho.
At the end of the conference, at 6:00 p.m., the exhibition “European Film Co-production in the 1950s and 1960s”, curated by Jorge Carrega, will be opened at the António Rosa Mendes Library.
