Ana Romana exhibits in Galeria Diferença
The researcher Ana João Romana inaugurates, on November 25, at 4:00 pm, the exhibition “Sala de Leitura” (Reading Room) in Galeria Diferença, in Lisbon. In this exhibition, four works, resulting from the research carried out in the last five years within the framework of her doctoral project, developed at CIAC, under the supervison of Pedro Cabral Santo, “Publicar a Estória/História do Livro de Artista em Portugal” (Publish the Story / History of the Book of Artist in Portugal). The exhibition includes the works: “If it walks like a duck and it talks like a duck it’s a duck”, book that brings together a selection of possible definitions of the artist book written between the years 1970 and the present time; “Estórias do livro de artista” (Stories from the artist book), a collection of 29 bilingual (Portuguese / English) issues that contain interviews conducted by the researcher during the 2016, to artists in the Portuguese context: artists, publishers, booksellers, collectors, curators and librarians; “Manifesto pelo livro – Fragmentos de um discurso amoroso” (Manifesto for the book – Fragments of a Loving Speech), a manifesto published in parallel with the fascicles, contains fragments of the interviews. This manifesto is a written exposition about the love of artists, editors and booksellers to the book and finally “Sala de Leitura” (Reading Room) , an installation organized by chapters containing the artist’s books from the collection of Ana Romana, from the artists and editors who served as a case study throughout the PhD.
The exhibition, which has the support of the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, will be open until December 22, 2017, Monday through Friday between 2:00 pm and 7:00 pm and Saturday between 3:00 pm and 8:00 pm.
