CIAC PRESENT AT THE CIÊNCIA’22 MEETING PROMOTED BY FCT

Between May 16 and 18, 2022, the Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT) promotes the Ciência’22 Meeting, at the Lisbon Congress Center. Under the motto “Building the Future with Science” and dedicated to the 25th anniversary of FCT, this event counts with the participation of Ana Carvalho (CIAC researcher) and Susana Costa (CIAC collaborator and PhD student in Digital Media-Art).

“A new pedagogical model for teaching cyberperformance in higher education” is the title of Ana Carvalho’s paper. Inserted in the panel “Education and Quality I” (May, 16, at 11h30), this intervention focuses on the presentation of the research project CyPeT, hosted by CIAC. This project aims at the theoretical and practical exploration of cyber performance, from the creative, performative and communicational angles, with the objective of developing a new pedagogical model for its inclusion in higher education curricula.

Susana Costa presents “Games and Communities: containing hate speech on the net”, a scientific poster about her doctoral research. Focusing on the motivations and effects of the online hate speech phenomenon among children and young people, Susana Costa seeks to analyze the impact of the use of interactive facilities and digital media games as strategic tools for the prevention or mitigation of online hate speech.

The program of the Ciência’22 Meeting includes 6 plenary sessions and 66 thematic sessions. This meeting brings together internationally recognized speakers in their fields to reflect on the key issues of the global scientific agenda. This is an event that assumes itself as a platform to stimulate interaction and dialogue; and to enhance new interdisciplinary interactions.

The Science Meeting is promoted by the Foundation for Science and Technology in collaboration with the National Agency for Scientific and Technological Culture – Ciência Viva, and also has the institutional support of the Ministry of Science, Technology and Higher Education and the Parliamentary Committee for Education and Science.
