Exhibition by Pedro Cabrita Reis at the Trem Gallery opens on July 16, at 7:00 p.m.
To close the TREM Gallery’s exhibition series this term, with the curatorship of the Visual Arts Degree Course (FCHS / UALG), with the support of CIAC – Centre for Research in Arts and Communication, we have invited one of the great contemporary artists, Pedro Cabrita Reis, whose work speaks for itself: solo exhibitions in major national and international galleries, works on show at the main biennials and art fairs, as well as in important collections: EDP Foundation, Serralves Foundation, Calouste Gulbenkian, Tate Modern, among others.
The exhibition, which goes by the name Ridi Pagliaccio, opens on July 16 at 7:00 p.m. and runs until September 26. This project is part of the protocol jointly developed by Faro Council and the University of the Algarve, through the Visual Arts Degree and CIAC, with the aim of promoting the arts and to effectively occupy the Trem Gallery, which again is one of the leading galleries within the national scene given the quality of the exhibitions and the work it does promoting culture in the region.
About the Artist:
Pedro Cabrita Reis is currently one of the best-known Portuguese artists. He has taken part in renowned international exhibitions: among others, his work has been shown at the 9th Documenta, in Kassel and at the 24th São Paulo Biennial. In 2003, he represented Portugal at the Venice Biennale. His work is multifaceted and complex, in that the artist uses various media and materials, often keeping the creation in the ambiguous space between drawing and architecture, between the tangible and the ineffable. In this exhibition we will have the chance to see this multiple facet once again, through the pieces to be exhibited, the concept that underlies each work and the very idea of work, questioned by the artist with each new creation.
