EXHIBITION

Exhibition by artist Ernesto Ceriz opens on April 23 at the Trem gallery.

The exhibition runs until July 04, 2015.

O Azul do Céu Azul [The Blue of the Blue Sky] is a solo exhibition by artist Ernesto Ceriz, featuring a series of works, which, according to the artist, reflect his anxieties and his way of being in the world: “I strive to act like an archaeologist, or like a soul consultant, letting fragments emerge on the surface, remains of something that afterwards I try to give meaning to, and in this sense, as it is my own, the desire runs through me that this extends to the comprehensibility of others. I therefore search for The Word in an unknown dictionary. This is what my work is about.” A series of drawings with different techniques results from the research done by the artist, who has a degree and is studying for his master’s degree, both in Visual Arts, at the University of the Algarve. Like Gauguin, his arrival in the field of arts was late, and after a stint working in banking, as an employee for many years. Art was present, but only as a point of reference, which has now become his main activity: his works are represented in several exhibitions in the Algarve. This is his first solo exhibition and reveals the maturity of a work gestated and cherished over the years by an artist, who is also a thinker and whose work is the fruit of his restlessness and constant questioning of the world.
