Nuno Viegas opens “Privado” [Private] exhibition

The exhibition “Privado” by the artist Nuno Viegas opens on March 21, at 6:00 pm, at the Santo António Convent, in Loulé.

The work focuses on a pressing issue in the contemporary world: how are artists affected by the rapid production and distribution of images and how the images produced by these devices, in the case of video surveillance cameras, can be used in an artistic context. “Privado” is, at the same time, an exhibition and a research project that is part of the artist’s concerns since completing his degree. With his work Nuno Viegas aims to question the role of image in everyday life, the trivialisation of bodies – through the constant presence of cameras and the right of personal portrayal that is stolen from us every time we go out.
