GALERIA TREM EXHIBITION

TREM GALLERY HOSTS THE EXHIBITION “OPEN ARMS FORM RIGHT ANGLES” AS PART OF THE VISUAL ARTS CYCLE

On 19th April 2022, at 6:00pm, the exhibition Os braços abertos formam ângulos rectos [Open arms form right angles] at Galeria Trem, in Faro. This is a Pessoa Colectiva’s project, which brings together the work of artists Isabel Baraona, Mafalda Santos and Susana Gaudêncio. On show until 9th July 2022, the exhibition is part of the Cycle of Visual Arts, promoted by CIAC and the Visual Arts Degree Course at UAlg.

Os braços abertos formam ângulos rectos [Open arms form right angles] is the second moment of a trilogy that began in 2020, in Porto, with the project A mão que segura e a que se levanta no ar. Taking Ana Hatherly’s artistic practice and poetics and the concepts of writing-image as a starting point, this exhibition presents a diversity of media, exploring mainly the possibilities of drawing, writing, sculpture and site-specific.

The title offers an image: that of a body drawing in space a right angle, a semi-circle, an embrace, a direction. This body defines geometries, acts of freedom and resistance, positioning itself as an axis from which to rethink the past and build the future. The word and art as critical forms of the present.

This exhibition, with free admission, is part of the programme of the Visual Arts course of the Faculty of Human and Social Sciences of the University of the Algarve for the Galeria Trem, with the support of CIAC, FCT and Faro City Council/Museu Municipal de Faro.
