“ASSUM LIVRE” IS THE FIRST CYBERPERFORMANCE PRESENTATION OF PROJECT CYPET

On 19 October 2022, 21h00, CIAC researcher Rosimária Rocha presents the ciberperformance Assum Livre, via Zoom. This is the first session of Project CyPeT cyberperformances. Participation is free of charge.

Assum Livre is an interpretation of the song Assum Preto, by Luiz Gonzaga and Humberto Teixeira. The song tells the story of an Assum bird. This particular bird species only sings at night. An “ignorant or evil person” punctured the eyes of the animal, so the now blinded bird sings all day long instead. The metaphor relates to our times and imprisonments for the sake of beauty and virtuosity. In addition, the metaphor can also be related to the pandemic, the lockdown, and the confinement to screens. This Cyberperformance connects the Assum bird song, human vocals, and videos with images of both in dialogue.

Project CyPet proposes the theoretical and practical exploration of cyberperformance, from the creative, performative, and communicational perspectives, with the aim of developing a new pedagogical model to be implemented in the higher education curriculum. The project will promote theoretical and practical events in order to reflect on cyberperformance in the artistic and academic context.
