MIRIAN TAVARES AND BRUNO MENDES DA SILVA AT THE 2ND STEERING COMMITTEE OF THE iHERITAGE PROJECT
The 2nd Steering Committee of the iHERITAGE project has the participation of Mirian Tavares and Bruno Mendes da Silva, coordinator and vice-coordinator of CIAC. The event takes place on the 13th and 14th July, at the Escola Superior de Gestão Hotelaria e Turismo, at the University of Algarve, and in virtual format via Zoom.
The aim of the iHERITAGE project is to create innovative ways to develop technological tools for augmented reality and smartphone applications that improve the experience of those visiting the cultural heritage recognized by UNESCO. In the case of the Algarve, the actions are developed by the University of the Algarve (UAlg), whose cultural heritage is the Mediterranean Diet, classified as Intangible Heritage of Humanity, in 2013. In addition to Mirian Tavares and Bruno da Silva, they are also part of UAlg team, CIMA and CinTurs researchers.
For two consecutive days, the 2nd Steering Committee program includes presentations according to various work packages related to the progress of the iHERITAGE project, in areas such as Project Management, Communication and Living Labs.
Supporting the commercialization and technological transfer of innovative AR/VR tools, iHERITAGE seeks to consolidate access to UNESCO’s Mediterranean cultural heritage, through augmented and immersive reality experiences, with the creation of living labs geared towards research and development.
With this platform, the first Intangible Cultural Heritage Register of the Mediterranean basin will be created and AR/VR audio-video guides will be produced, giving access to 3D reconstructions, cross media accessible on PC, smartphone, tablet and AR glasses.
The iHERITAGE Mediterranean platform for UNESCO cultural heritage is a strategic project co-financed by the European Union’s ENI CBC Mediterranean Sea Basin Programme. Six countries are part of this project: Italy, Egypt, Spain, Jordan, Portugal and Lebanon.
