INTERNATIONAL COLLOQUIUM

ARMANDO NASCIMENTO ROSA IS A GUEST SPEAKER OF THE COLLOQUIUM “A CENTURY OF NATÁLIA CORREIA, 1923-2023″

The Center for Portuguese Studies of the University of Massachusetts Darmouth (USA) organizes the Colloquium “A Century of Natalia Correia, 1923-2023”, on October 13 and 14, 2023. CIAC researcher Armando Nascimento Rosa participates as a guest speaker.

The purpose of the initiative is to mark the centenary of the birth of Natália Correia by bringing together scholars of her work and dedicating two days of the conference to this writer and unique Portuguese history figure of the twentieth century.

”’Barbo’, by Natália Correia: promotor of immediate encounters between theatre and science fiction” is the title of the communication that will be presented by Nascimento Rosa. The researcher presents an approach that revisits the short story “Barbo”, of scientific anticipation, which Natalia published in 1968, articulating it with the author’s play O Encoberto (1969), with an ufological outcome and, also, the recent play Barbo-Salvar Gaia rumo a Yod, which Nascimento Rosa wrote, motivated by Natalia’s narrative, at this moment in rehearsals by Teatro Estúdio Fontenova.
