INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE: LPS 2022

CIAC CO-ORGANIZES THE LSP 2022 INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE

On September 12 and 13, 2022, NOVA CLUNL (New University of Lisbon, CIAC (University of Algarve), CLLC (University of Aveiro) and CEOS.PP (Institute of Accounting and Administration of Porto) promote the 23rd International Conference on Languages for Specific Purposes (LSP 2022). Under the theme “Shaping knowledge through language: LSP in theory and practice”, the event aims to present the most recent theoretical and methodological perspectives related to LSP, in the organization of knowledge in the digital age. The call for papers runs until 12 June 2022.

In a multilingual, multicultural and digital world, LSP plays a crucial role as an expert information vehicle in a wide range of communication contexts. This conference seeks to bring together not only language specialists, but also experts from multiple fields and activities, whose methods of organising knowledge and their discourses in specialised contexts introduce new research and/or applications that permeate the major challenges of the 21st century.

Papers will be accepted if they address the following topics: the use of language in a specific domain (in areas such as science, technology, economics, law, medicine, etc. ); specialized translation and interpretation; professional communication; theoretical and methodological issues of LSP; LSP in teaching and training; terminology in theory and practice; corpus-studies for LSP practice and research; multilingualism, language policies and sociocultural issues of LSPs; science communication; language for specific purposes, in specific languages, countries or regions of the world; digital humanities; knowledge organization; and plain language in different fields.

LSP 2022 takes place at the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities, New University of Lisbon, and features keynote speakers Maria Teresa Zanola (Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore of Milan, Italy), Pamela Faber (University of Granada, Spain) and Jan Engberg (Aarhus University, Denmark).
