MANUEL CÉLIO CONCEIÇÃO AT THE NATACLANG 2021 INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE
CIAC researcher Manuel Célio Conceição will attend the NatAcLang 2021 – National languages in academic research and higher education conference, promoted by the University of Tallinn (Estonia), to be held on October 7 and 8. “Language diversity and multilingual terminology precision: impacts of scientific knowledge in societal needs” is the title of his paper.
It proposes a reflection on a new concept of language that will allow the internationalization of higher education and the promotion of national/local languages in the communication of scientific knowledge. In “Language diversity and multilingual terminology precision: impacts of scientific knowledge in societal needs”, Manuel Célio Conceição highlights the importance of metalinguistic activity as a cognitive and communicative resource for science, from a linguistic perspective (terminological and discursive) of creation, management and dissemination of knowledge.
NatAcLang 2021 aims to discuss trends in the use of various mother tongues in higher education and academic research and seeks different solutions to achieve a sustainable balance between national and international multilingual scientific work and communication.
