CIAC COLLABORATOR PRESENT IN THE MIDTERM CONFERENCE OF THE “WRITING URBAN PLACES” PROJECT

On the 27th and 28th of October, Juliana Wexel, PhD student in Digital Media-Art and FCT-CIAC research fellow, participates in the mid-term conference of the European project Writing Urban Places. Hosted by the Faculty of Architecture of the University of Porto, the conference takes place in the middle of the Action COST, as a moment of reflection on the work already done and of preparation for what comes next.

Writing Urban Places proposes innovative research by articulating literary studies, urban planning, and architecture, and by valuing the specificity of local urban cultures in the European context.

After intense work on the theoretical, methodological, fieldwork and communicational frameworks developed over the past two years by the different Working Groups, the midterm conference marks the moment for action, involving institutions, communities and stakeholders from the different participating European medium-sized cities. The program includes recognition of the project’s work and achievements; presentation of potential events to be held in medium-sized European cities; and meetings of the Working Groups to restructure and reorganize the network for real action.

In September, Juliana Wexel had already been selected to participate in the “Training School on Local Stories and Visual Narratives” in Tallinn (Estonia), a project action that focused on local urban stories (with the city of Tallinn as an example) and included site visits, analysis workshops, discussions and lectures.
