José Mário Branco gives lecture about ‘Zeca’ Afonso
José Mário Branco is the next guest speaker in the cycle of thematic conferences “Mestres e Discípulos nas Artes, nas Ciências, nas Humanidades” (Masters and Disciples in Arts, Sciences and in the Humanities), to be held in the 22nd of February, by 11h00am, in Salão Nobre dos Paços do Concelho, in Loulé.
The Portuguese musician and compositor will talk about “José Afonso – A canção, do cliché à educação do gosto” (José Afonso – The song, from cliché to the education of taste), reflecting about the way that fencing the cliché may be, in the song of the song writer and singer, a factor in the education of public taste as well as of other musicians, under the light of a very specific framework: the dictatorship, the censorship, the academic protests, and the colonial war.
