CIAC is represented in the African Film Show in Brazil
From 20th November to 2nd December, at CAIXA Cultural Rio de Janeiro, will take place the Film Show Africa (S). Cinema and Memory in Construction, whose programme’s axis was defined around films that build the memory of the revolutionary process, while reflecting about the colonial past and the persistence of that past. This current show is greater than the one organized in the previous year: there are 42 films, from several countries, made between 1968 and 2017.
Also present at the Africa(s) Film Show. Cinema and Revolution in 2017, the CIAC researchers, Bruno Silva and Sílvia Vieira, are secreening the documentary “Assim Estamos Livres” (2010) in Brazil again, where it will be shown on the 24thNovember at 3:30 p.m. The CIAC researcher Jusciele Oliveira, who is completing her PhD research on the African filmmaker Flora Gomes, also will participate in this event, through the presentation and commentary of the film “A Minha Fala”, by Flora Gomes.
Between a rich programme that takes place for about two weeks, we also point out the organization of a round table dedicated to the circulation of African cinemas, and the birth of cinemas in Mozambique and Guinea-Bissau, where we can count on interventions from Jusciele Oliveira
The complete programme is available on the website, where it is also possible to consult the catalog of the show.
