CHAPTER BY SÍLVIA QUINTEIRO PUBLISHED IN SPRINGER BOOK

Interconnected Pathways and Prospects: Exploring the Synergies between Literary Geography, Tourism, and Education“, a chapter by CIAC researcher Sílvia Quinteiro, was recently published in the International Handbook of Skill, Education, Learning, and Research Development in Tourism and Hospitality, part of the series Springer International Handbooks of Education.

The chapter explores the longstanding tradition of incorporating maps in literature, commonly printed on book covers and within pages, to highlight spatial elements in narratives. These maps, whether depicting real or imaginary locations, play a crucial role in guiding readers through the story, with a notable presence in travel literature and fictional works. The study delves into the realm of literary geography, examining the construction of literary cartography and its applications, offering insights into how this practice forms the basis for literary tourism, serving not only as a resource for tourists but also providing significant educational value.

The International Handbook of Skill, Education, Learning, and Research Development in Tourism and Hospitality provides new dimensions and directions to design tourism education curriculum; delves into issues such as job opportunities, exploring the development of skills and attributes for employability; and provides case studies on innovative skills and teaching methodology.
