OPEN STUDIOS FARO
OPEN STUDIOS FARO IS BACK AND FEATURES THE PARTICIPATION OF CIAC RESEARCHERS
The 4th edition of the event Open Studios Faro is planned for the 21, 22, and 23 of October 2022. The event allows the public to get to know the work and creative spaces (studios) of more than 30 artists in a cultural circuit that involves public gardens, museums, associations, galleries, local accommodations, ateliers, and private homes. Besides, the program includes a multidisciplinary program with lectures, workshops, film sessions, drink & paint, and artistic workshops.
The inauguration of the event takes place at Jardim Manuel Bivar, on October 21 (Friday), at 17h00, with the installation of PORTAL X001by artist and CIAC researcher XANA (Alexandre Barata). The following day (Saturday), from 10h00, CIAC researcher Ana Isabel Soares conducts a guided tour of the studios of the artists who are participating in the event Open Studios Faro. Participation in the visit requires a prior reservation via e-mail, firstname.lastname@example.org.
Visits to the studios can be carried out spontaneously on October 22 and 23, from 10h00 to 13h00 and from 14h00 to 18h00. During these times, the public will be able to meet the artists who are opening the doors of their ateliers (or their homes); visitors may even participate in creative activities in the ateliers.
This year’s program has also planned film sessions for children, which are curated by Cineclube de Faro, and art exhibitions at the gallery of Direção Regional do Algarve, Instituto Português do Desporto e da Juventude, Museu Regional do Algarve, Associação Cultural ArQuente and Galeria Between.
Open Studios Faro started in 2019 and is organized by Daniela Garcia and Toma Svazaite. The event is a platform for promoting, creating, and mediating contemporary art—with a particular focus on the visual arts. The main goal is to stimulate creativity, exchange of ideas, and experimentation in Algarve’s Contemporary Arts, as well as promote its relationship with the public through innovative cultural and artistic projects in the region and the confrontation with new regional, national, and international creative ideas. This event takes place annually, with a program that allows artists and their artistic production to be recognized, with the opening of their studios to the public.
The event’s program is available here.
