ADÉRITO FERNANDES-MARCOS GIVES OPENING CLASS OF A GRADUATE PROGRAM IN EDUCATION, ART AND CULTURAL HISTORY (BRAZIL)

Today (March 8, 2022), at 5 pm (Lisbon time), CIAC researcher Adérito Fernandes-Marcos will give the oppening class of the Post-Graduation Program in Education, Art and History of Culture, at Universidade Presbiteriana Mackenzie (São Paulo, Brazil). Under the theme “Art and digital media: research at the intersection between artifacts, action-contemplation practices and cultural intervention in the global network”, the lecture takes place online, with free access (here).

The last decade and a half has seen the emergence of an aesthetic instantiated through digital media as a form of expression of artistic and cultural contemporaneity, supported by and integral to the current global digital technological revolution. This class addresses the nature of these new forms of art and digital media (digital media-art), concepts and fundamentals, artistic practices, processes of creation and cultural intervention. Special emphasis is given to the underlying scientific research methodology, which adopts strategies based on the creation of technological artifacts, in cycles of action-contemplation, with a view to scenarios of cultural intervention in the global network.

The Graduate Program in Education, Art and the History of Culture investigates the interdisciplinarity of educational, artistic, technological, and cultural manifestations and aims at the dissemination of knowledge in different media (exhibitions, curatorships, teaching materials, and musical, theatrical, cinematographic, and audiovisual performances).
