Eugénia Vasques signs the eighth volume of the Collection Biografias do Teatro Português.
The eighth volume of the Collection “Biografias do Teatro Português” signed by the researcher Eugénia Vasques, with scientific coordination of Maria João Brilhante and Ana Isabel Vasconcelos (CET-FLUL), will be launched on the 23rd February at the D. Maria II National Theater. This volume is dedicated to the biography of António Pinheiro, an unmissable name in Portuguese Theater History of the late 19th and early 20th centuries, considered one of the most intelligent and educated Portuguese actors of his generation. Eugénia Vasques “supported by documentary evidence, some of which are unpublished, guide us through the long and rich artistic journey of Pinheiro, recalls important aspects of his personal life, emphasizes his commitment in the associative fight in defense of theater professionals, all of this inserted in a social and professional context that allows us to evaluate Pinheiro’s relationship with his peers as well as his position regarding the aesthetic trends of the time”.
The launch of this work, scheduled for 5:00 pm on the 23rd February, in the lobby of the D. Maria II National Theater, will count on the presence of the author and a guest to announce soon. The entrance is free.
The collection “Biografias do Teatro Português”, edited and coordinated by the D. Maria II National Theater / S. João National Theater, is aimed at a broad audience and is intended to contribute not only to the dissemination of outstanding figures of Portuguese theater of the 19th and 20th centuries, as well as for the knowledge of the theater’s own history.
