RETREAT

Jointly organised by the Universidade Aberta, the University of the Algarve and the Cerveira Biennial Foundation, in close collaboration with the Municipality of Vila Nova de Cerveira, the 3rd Digital Media Arts PhD Retreat, a joint educational proposal of both universities, will take place in Vila Nova de Cerveira, between July 25 and 31.

The 3rd Digital Media Arts PhD Retreat, part of the 18th Biennial of Cerveira and adopting its motto “Looking at the Past Building the Future”, is the highlight of the academic year, where students, professors, guests and the general public, share a common space for enjoying ideas, analysing results and future challenges.

Various activities will take place during the PhD retreat, including the presentation of learning outcomes, conferences, workshop-classes, forum discussions and thematic seminars, artistic intervention and academic performance actions, experimentation with digital media art artefacts, reflection and feedback on research issues, construction of digital narratives, presentation, discussion and assessment of thesis projects, while wandering the streets and sites of Cerveira, part of the Minho and beyond the border, where Portugal joins with Galicia…but above all else Vila das Artes [The Arts Town].
