ERC, ESEC e CIAC promovem ação de literacia para os media
ERC, ESEC and CIAC promote media literacy action
For the fourth year in a row, Portugal’s Media Regulatory Body (the ERC) is once again associated with the 7 Days with the Media initiative, which seeks to involve the community, through institutions and civil society, in a pedagogical access, inclusion and awareness initiative for citizens of all ages. In these initiatives, institutions, companies and citizens introduce organisations from the sector and debate on the nature of media languages and the skills needed to use the media in an informed manner.
In the “News Accuracy – the principles and legal limits to journalistic content”, the ERC seeks to shed some light on the rights and duties of television operators and viewers, for unbiased and accurate information. The legal framework and regulation of these values will be presented by the ERC, through some examples of reports and the respective analysis of how they comply in terms of accuracy and being unbiased. Participants are invited to the debate that will follow this. The goal of this action is to forge more aware and participative viewers.
The seminar, headed by Vanda Ferreira, from the Department of Media Analysis of the Portugal’s Media Regulatory Body, will take place in the José Saramago Amphitheatre (0.5), in the Pedagogical Complex on Penha Campus, on May 12, next Thursday, at 2:30 p.m.
