CIAC and ESEC promote the Seminar “The Transnational Cinema of Mediterranean Europe” with the researcher Jorge Carrega
The seminar “The Transnational Cinema of Mediterranean Europe” with the researcher Jorge Carrega, CIAC’s postdoctoral researcher in the field of Cinema, will take place on November 3, at the Paulo Freire Amphitheater, at ESEC, Penha Campus, at 2:30 p.m. The admission is free.
Abstract of the Seminar:
Since the beginning of the 21st century, the history of European cinema has been analyzed from a transnational perspective, supported by the theoretical framework and the work of researchers such as Mette Hjort, Tim Bergfelder and Deborah Shaw, whose work focuses on issues such as the internationalization of film production and cultural hybridization.
This conference will analyze the vast cinematographic production of Mediterranean Europe (including popular genres and author cinema) as the product of a transnational creative network based on large production centers (Rome, Paris, Madrid) which did not only influenced each other, but also collaborated together to create a cinema for the international public.
