ESEC AND CIAC PROMOTE A SEMINAR ABOUT SEMIOTICS AND VISUAL CULTURE
On the 6th of January 2022, between 14:30 and 16:30, the School of Education and Communication (ESEC) of the University of Algarve and CIAC promote the Semiotics and Visual Culture seminar, with Maria Messias. Organized within the scope of the Semiotics course of the 2nd year of the Degree in Communication Sciences, the session is moderated by Prof. Carmen Monereo and takes place in the Amphitheatre 1.3 of the Pedagogical Complex of the Penha Campus (with the virtual presence of the speaker).
In this seminary, we intend to analyze the presence of semiotics in institutions, taking about 50 European cultural institutions as examples.
Maria Messias has a PhD in Museology and a degree in Communication Design from the Faculty of Fine Arts of Lisbon. She is currently a senior technician at the Directorate General of Arts, in the Directorate of Arts Support Services. Her interest in research in Museology led her to take a Master’s degree in the area and, in 2015, to join CeiED – Center for Interdisciplinary Studies in Education and Development, at the Lusophone University of Humanities and Technologies for the areas of Education, Heritage, Human Development and Museology. She has a Postgraduate degree in Communication Sciences – Communication and Cultural Management (2017) and the course “Management of Cultural Heritage”, from Executive Education of NOVA SBE (2019). Throughout her professional career she has worked in the areas of communication, design, production, planning and project management. She is co-founder of the Audiovisual Producer Blackmaria, directed to projects of fiction cinema, documentaries and television series, media production services, audiovisual content, communication projects, design, music and art.
