CIAC AND IREM PROMOTE AN ONLINE SEMINAR DEDICATED TO SCIENCE COMMUNICATION

The online seminar Les Mathématiques sont aussi des faits de langue(s). Comment comptons-nous dans nos langues?, promoted by CIAC and Institut de Recherche sur l’Enseignement des Mathématiques (IREM) will take place on May 16, 2022, between 2:30 pm and 5:00 pm. Dedicated to Science Communication, the seminar focuses mainly on the relationship between languages and Mathematics.

How do you count in Afar and in Somali? And in Japanese? How does the number system work in Wolof? What about Mayan mathematics? These are some of the questions presented in the seminar Les Mathématiques sont aussi des faits de langue(s). Comment comptons-nous dans nos langues?, organized by Manuel Célio Conceição (FCHS-UAllg and CIAC) and Ana Lobo de Mesquita (IREM-Université de Paris).
