SEMINARY
ESEC AND CIAC PROMOTE A SEMINARY ABOUT CINEMA OF ORIGINS
On the 17th of November, at 2 pm, the School of Education and Communication (ESEC) of the University of Algarve and CIAC promote the seminary O cinema das origens e a coleção de cartazes do Museu Municipal de Faro [The cinema of origins and the poster collection of the Faro Municipal Museum], with CIAC researcher Jorge Carrega. Organized within the scope of the Media History course of the Communication Sciences degree, the session will take place at the Anfiteatro 1.5 of the Pedagogical Complex on the Penha Campus.
The researcher Jorge Carrega is a postdoctoral fellow in the project “1950-1974: Popular Genres and Transnational Cinema in Mediterranean Europe” (2018) at the University of Algarve, a PhD in Communication, Culture and Arts (2014) and Master in Literature (2009) from the same institution. He has dedicated the last decade to the investigation of the Mannerist currents that emerged within the so-called classical Hollywood cinema and the coproduction of popular genres in Mediterranean Europe. He is currently researching the history of film exhibition in the Algarve during the first decades of the 20th century.
