Ana Alexandra de Carvalho
Ana Alexandra Seabra de Carvalho (born in Lisbon in 1964) has a PhD in Literature (French) from the University of the Algarve (2001), a Master’s degree in French Literature (1989) and a degree in Modern Languages and Literatures (1985) from the Faculty of Letters of the University of Lisbon. She was a lecturer at the Beja School of Education between 1989 and 1993. She is currently a lecturer at the Faculty of Human and Social Sciences of the University of Algarve, having been awarded a PRODEP scholarship between 1997 and 2000.
She was a researcher at the Center for Linguistic and Literary Studies (CELL) at the University of the Algarve. She has taken part in several PhD and Master’s juries, either as chair, supervisor or as an examiner. Until September 2023, she was an Integrated Researcher at the Center for Lusophone and European Literatures and Cultures of the Faculty of Letters of the University of Lisbon (CLEPUL) and a collaborator at the Center for Research in Arts and Communication of the University of Algarve (CIAC). She is currently an Integrated Researcher at CIAC.

Containing Various Historical, Geographical, Physical, Critical & Moral Observations (co-translation with João Carvalho of the novel of the same name by Guillaume-Hyacinthe Bougeant, 2007); The Sylph, or Dream of the Lady of R* Written by Herself to the Lady of S* (translation of the novel of the same name by Claude Crébillon, preceded by an introduction, 2008); The Night and the Moment, or the Matins of Citera. Diálogo (translation of the novel of the same name by Claude Crébillon, followed by an afterword, 2023).
Research Interests
She has worked in the fields of French and Comparative Literatures and Cultures, Film Studies, Translation Studies and Studies on the Fantastic and Science Fiction.
