Artur Manuel Sancho Marques is a creator of solutions, ranging from software to facilitate and automate information processes on an individual scale, to multimedia objects with global human potential, such as his “Stigmergic Hyperlink”. In this context, his motivation is to try to contribute to approaches that can give control back to the average person in the Information Society, which has become a very asymmetrical “attention market”.

With a PhD in “Engineering and Management” from the Instituto Superior Técnico (IST), master’s degrees in areas aligned with his interests (“Technology Engineering and Management”, “Electronic Commerce and the Internet”), a degree in “Informatics and Computer Engineering” (IST), and studies in Intellectual Property/Copyright Law (Harvard), he believes that the most important thing is to be able to keep “hunger” and curiosity open, with technology being nothing more than an instrument for creative action.

Artur teaches at the School of Management and Technology of the Polytechnic Institute of Santarém (IPSantarém).

Research Interests

Creating solutions that are alternatives to the established ways of enjoying the Information Society, especially when these approaches help to regain or improve users’ control, autonomy and experience.
