
Paulo Duarte Branco
Paulo Duarte has a degree (2009) and a master’s degree (2011) in Multimedia Education and Communication from the School of Education of the Polytechnic Institute of Santarém (ESES) and a PhD (unanimously approved with praise and distinction) in Multimedia in Education from the University of Aveiro (2015), having obtained a PhD scholarship from the Foundation for Science and Technology.
He began working as a freelancer in areas such as design, photography and web development until he completed his degree, after which he began teaching. He taught at the Escola Superior de Educação de Santarém (2009 to 2017), at the Escola Secundária do Entroncamento (2009-2010), at the Escola Secundária Jácome Ratton (2010-2011) and, since 2016, he has been an Adjunct Professor at the Instituto Superior de Tecnologias Avançadas.
He was editor of the magazine Kriativ-tech and a collaborator at the Research Center “Centro di ricerca per la tutela della persona del minore [CeTM]” of the Universitá di Roma – La Sapienza as well as at the Research Unit of the Polytechnic Institute of Santarém, having been a fellow of the Research Center in Didactics and Technology in the Training of Trainers (2012-2015).
He has published national and international papers over the last decade.
He is a member of the Scientific Council at the Instituto Superior de Tecnologias Avançadas (since 2016) and Coordinator of the Multimedia Engineering Degree and the Multimedia Product Development cTesp (since 2016).
He is also a project evaluator for the National Innovation Agency (P2020 Program) and the Erasmus+ JA Agencies (Erasmus+ Program).
He was a member of the ESES Board of Directors (2007-2009), a member of the ESES Projects and Internationalization Advisory Board (2014-2017) and Secretary of the ESES Master’s Degree in Multimedia Education and Communication (2014-2017).
He has been a Coordinating Professor at the Higher Institute of Advanced Technologies since September 2022, and since December 2023 he has been President of the Pedagogical Council of the same institution.
Research Interests
In terms of research, he has worked mainly in teaching and training, particularly in areas such as Social Media, Interactive Television, Lifelong Learning and Social Inclusion (using ICT).
In addition to teaching and research, he has been involved in several nationally and internationally funded Research and Development projects, participating from the project construction phase (development of the application to be submitted for funding) to the development phase (execution of activities) and their evaluation.
