Ana Isabel Soares and Mirian Tavares organised the 6th meeting ‘The creative process’
Ana Isabel Soares, CIAC researcher, and Mirian Tavares, CIAC vice-coordinator, organised and took part in ‘El processo criativo’ – 6th meeting, at the University of Beira Interior, on 3 and 4 April 2025.
The creative process is a partnership meeting between the Rey Juan Carlos University, the University of Beira Interior and the University of the Algarve, which was founded on 21 February 2020 by Alfonso Palazón (Rey Juan Carlos University) and Manuela Penafria (UBI), bringing together researchers and filmmakers in the same event called ‘The creative process’. According to the creators: ‘The aim was – and continues to be – to promote debate and a rapprochement between artistic creation and academic research are the focus of an event whose first edition took place at UBI and the second, in 2021, at the Rey Juan Carlos University. In 2023, the University of the Algarve joined the organisation of this event. In 2025, the 6th edition will be held at UBI, maintaining the dialogue promotion format. What is a creative process and what does it consist of?’
The programme took place on 3 and 4 April, on the 3rd at 9.15pm, in the Library auditorium – Mediatrix – Intermediate Perfrormative Night by iA*Lab Sensoria.
On the 4th, the opening was at 9:30am, Parada Amphitheatre – Screening of the film ‘Our land, our altar’ (2020), by André Guiomar. At 2pm, Round Table – André Guiomar and all those present, in the auditorium of the Wool Museum. At 4pm, Ana Isabel Soares and Mirian Tavares presented their books – ‘Processes of Creation (CIAC)’, in the auditorium of the Wool Museum. James Guterres de Mello and Thalita Cruz Bastos presented ‘Books from the Toria de Cineastas network: Towards a shared theory: ideas, processes and practices of filmmakers.’ 17:30, Closing.
