ANIMAGORIA 2024 — Algarve Animated Film Festival takes place from 26th to 28th September
ANIMAGORIA – Festa do Cinema de Animação do Algarve, organised by IPDJ – Portuguese Institute of Sport and Youth, will take place from September 26 to 28 in Faro, with a special focus on global warming and the preservation of marine ecosystems. The event celebrates the art of animation, promoting reflection on environmental impact and encouraging conservation actions.
Among the highlights of ANIMAGORIA 2024 is a masterclass led by Sandra C. Ramos and David Novack. Ramos and David Novack, which will explore the process of abstract animation, linking sound and visual elements. This event will take place on 27 September at 2.30pm in Amphitheatre 1.3 of the Penha Campus Pedagogical Complex at the University of the Algarve.
The ANIMAGORIA 2024 programme kicks off on September 26 with a special session for the little ones, which will take place at 10am at the Information and Interpretation Centre of the Castro Marim and Vila Real de Santo António Marshland Nature Reserve (CIIRNSCMVRSA), where short animated films will be screened.
On the 27th, in addition to the marterclass, the film ‘FLOW’ by director Gints Zilbalodis will be shown at 9.30pm at the IPDJ Amphitheatre in Faro.
The programme ends on 28 September with a screening of short films by Portuguese students in the IPDJ’s interior courtyard at 10pm, followed by an open discussion with the filmmakers present.
This event has the partnership of CIAC – Research Center for Arts and Communication and ESEC – School of Education and Communication of the University of Algarve, and is financed by national funds through FCT – Foundation for Science and Technology, I.P., under the project UIDB/04019/2020.
