António Costa Valente gives a lecture at the São Tomé and Príncipe International Film


António Costa Valente, a researcher at CIAC, is giving a lecture at the 6th edition of São Tomé FestFilm — São Tomé and Príncipe International Film Festival, which will take place from 23 to 26 October 2024.

The CIAC researcher’s talk, entitled ‘From Avanca Cinema to Lusophone Cinema — Cinematographies in need of scale’, will take place on Wednesday morning, the 23rd, in the Auditorium of the Portuguese Cultural Centre and will address the evolution and challenges of Lusophone cinematographies, with a focus on the cinema produced in Avanca, an example of regional production that reflects the wider scenario of Portuguese-language cinema.

The researcher will also present some films that were curated and produced by CIAC – Centre for Research in Arts and Communication. In this context, he will present the feature-length fiction film ‘Já nada sei’ by Luís Diogo and the short films ‘Horário em Branco’ by Bernardo Cabral, ‘Noites de Cinema’ by Luís Diogo and ‘Capa de Honras La Cuonta de L Garotico I L Bielho’ by Rui Falcão.
