António Costa Valente took part in CISC’24 in Morocco with papers and participation in a doctoral jury

CIAC researcher António Costa Valente attended “CISC’24 – Congrès International des Sciences de la Communication”, which took place from 28 to 30 November at the École Normale Supérieure de Martil, part of the Université Abdelmalek Essaâdi in Tétouan, Morocco.

During the event, the professor presented two papers highlighting his research in the field of communication and culture. In the first, entitled “Porte d’Entrée Vers la Méditerranée: La Trajectoire des Festivals de Cinéma en Algarve”, he explored the evolution and impact of film festivals in the Algarve as a point of cultural and artistic connection to the Mediterranean region.

The second paper, co-authored with Prof. Dr. Lardyanne Pimentel, entitled “Participatory Culture: The Emancipated Spectator”, addressed the transformative role of spectators in the digital age, highlighting the active involvement of the public in cultural production and reception.

In addition to his scientific participation in the congress, Prof. António Costa Valente was a member of the jury for the doctoral exams of candidate Imane El Kortbi, where he argued her thesis “La Communication Institutionnelle en État de Crise Sanitaire: Quel Modèle pour l’Après Covid-19?”, presented as part of her doctorate in Human, Social and Educational Sciences.
