“Our Families” by Marta Pinto: An Audiovisual Essay on “A Portuguese Farewell” and “Tokyo Story”, an article by CIAC researcher Ana Isabel Soares, is featured in the most recent edition of the Journal of Science and Technology of the Arts.

Regarding the article, Ana Isabel Soares indicates that it is a text referring to Marta Pinto’s audiovisual essay on Tokyo Story (1953) and A Portuguese Farewell (1985), two central works in the filmography of Yasujirō Ozu and João Botelho, highlighting the influence the 1953 film had on the Portuguese director. The article emphasizes how the essay shows the extent to which both works differ in their approach to war. The abstract of the article notes that not only are the plots of the two films presented from distinct perspectives, but their formal approaches also diverge, despite the acknowledged affinity by João Botelho.
