AVANCA 2024: Call for Papers until January 20
The call for papers for the AVANCA International Conference | CINEMA 2024 is currently underway. The 15th edition of the event, scheduled to take place in Avanca, will be held from July 24 to 28, 2024, in both online and in-person formats.
Authors are invited to submit papers on various cinema-related topics, including Art, Technology, and Communication, among others, until January 20, 2024.
The submission of abstracts should follow the following parameters:
- Abstracts with a minimum of 100 and a maximum of 250 words in English;
- Title in one of the four official languages and in English;
- 5 keywords in English.
The official languages for publishing and presenting papers at the conference are English, Portuguese, French, and Spanish. Submit your abstract here.
The AVANCA International Conference aims to outline the perspective of contemporary production in cinema, television, video, and multimedia. It is both an international film competition and a space for creative workshops, conferences, exhibitions, and debates.
Films produced in the workshops have received over 50 awards in international festival competitions worldwide. Every year, in July and in Avanca, 15,000 to 20,000 spectators from around 40 countries across 5 continents come together.
The event is organized by the Avanca Film Club and the Municipality of Estarreja, with the support of different institutions, including: Institute of Cinema and Audiovisual, Government of Portugal – culture, IPDJ – Portuguese Institute of Sport and Youth, PNC – National Cinema Plan, Garantir Cultura, Portuguese Academy of Cinema, Portuguese Federation of Cineclubs, Centro Portugal Film Commission, International Federation of Film Societies, Mandatory Plan, Estarreja Cine-Theater, Aveirense Theater – CIAC – Research Center for Arts and Communication, FCT – Foundation for Science and Technology.
