Call for papers for the SPACE TO SPACE Conference open until 15 March 2026

The Call for Papers and Projects for SPACE TO SPACE — 1st International Conference on Design, Animation & Media, is open. Taking place on 21–22 May 2026, in Faro, Portugal, as part of the 15th Algarve Design Meeting (ADM 2026), SPACE TO SPACE invites researchers, designers, professionals, and students to reflect on design as a bridge between physical, social, digital, and conceptual spaces, addressing contemporary challenges related to ecology, technology, and coexistence.

Conference Themes
The conference is structured around four interconnected dimensions:

·         Space (Earth) – Physical spaces: environment, interiors, architecture, furniture, sustainability, ecology, and circularity

·         Space (Human) – Social spaces: social design, communities, inclusion

·         Space (Digital) – Animation, interaction, media, games, immersive technologies, AI

·         Space (Cosmic) – Conceptual and speculative spaces: experimentation, fiction, future imaginaries

Areas of Interest
Topics include (but are not limited to):
Interaction and Experience Design; Communication and Media Design; Interior and Spatial Design; Product and Furniture Design; Game and Interactive Media; Animation Studies; Digital Technologies and Media Art; Social and Inclusive Design; Speculative Design and Futures; Materials and Experimental Technologies.

Submission Guidelines

·         Submissions in English or Portuguese

·         Abstracts (1500–1800 characters, incl. spaces) in English

·         Up to 5 keywords in English

·         Short bio (max. 150 words) in original language and English

·         Academic, practice-based, and experimental works are welcome

·         If accepted, all authors must register

Publication
Accepted full papers will be published in the Conference Proceedings (ISBN + DOI), following peer review.

·         Abstract submission deadline: 15 March 2026

·         Notification of acceptance: 10 April 2026

·         Final abstract submission: 20 April 2026

·         Conference: 22–23 May 2026

·         Full paper submission: 30 August 2026
