CIAC hosts screening of the documentary “IROKO”: stories of migrant women in Portugal


On October 16, 2026, at 6:30 PM, the Paulo Freire Auditorium (School of Education and Communication – ESEC, Penha Campus, University of Algarve) will host the screening of the feature-length documentary “IROKO” (2026, 80’), directed by Raquel Pacheco.

Supported by CIAC – Research Centre in Arts and Communication, the film was developed within the scope of the IROKO Project and stems from encounters and workshops held with immigrant women residing in Portugal. The documentary is built upon their lived experiences, memories, voices, and shared journeys, offering a space for reflection on the female migratory experience.

Directed and produced under the P de Potência platform, the film features collaboration and partnership with Eduardo Amaro and Patrícia Soso.

The screening will be followed by a Roundtable Discussion (Roda de Conversa) with the film’s team and project participants.
