CIAC organises language panel discussion

Together with the Centre for Galician Studies of the UAlg, CIAC is organising a panel discussion on “Os novos desafios linguísticos: migración e turismo”, in which CIAC professors and researchers Manuel Célio Conceição, Neuza Costa, Olivia Novoa Fernández, Sara Vitorino Fernández and Claudia Mariño will take part.

The aim of this panel is to delve into the challenges and opportunities that migration and tourism present for the current linguistic panorama. Using a multilingual approach (Galician, Spanish, English, French, and Portuguese), the researchers will reflect on the enrichment of the linguistic diversity that immigrants bring, as well as the processes of integration and acculturation that affect both the immigrant community and the integrating society. In addition, the impact of tourism on indigenous languages and the consequences for local linguistic practices will be addressed. 

The event will take place next Friday, November 22nd, at 6 pm, at the FNAC bookshop in Fórum Algarve (Faro).
