Gabriela Borges coordinates the “III Conference of the Audiovisual Quality Observatory”

This year’s 3rd Audiovisual Quality Observatory Conference will discuss serial fiction, fan culture, media education, creation and artistic practice in the digital environment. The event will be held remotely on November 22-29, 2024, bringing together researchers from postgraduate courses at the University of Algarve – UAlg (Portugal) and the Federal University of Juiz de Fora – UFJF (Brazil).

The researchers are members of the Audiovisual Quality Observatory, the Communication, Art and Media Literacy group, the Postgraduate Programme in Communication (UFJF), the Master’s Degree in Communication and Digital Media at ESEC (School of Education and Communication) and the PhD in Digital Media-Art at CIAC-UAlg.

This year, the opening lecture will be given by Professor Anderson Lopes, Vice-Director of the Centre for Latin American Studies and Professor of Spanish and Portuguese at Chulalongkorn University in Bangkok (Thailand). Based on his study of Latin American consumption of Asian fiction series, the professor aims to understand the uses and impacts of the Thai Boys’ Love series as a tool for cultural diplomacy in Latin America.

Participation in the conference is free of charge and comes with a certificate. Those interested can register until November 21st using the form provided by the group.

The Audiovisual Quality Observatory has been carrying out research, teaching and outreach activities aimed at reflecting on audiovisual quality and media literacy since 2013. In its repository, you can find critical analyses of audiovisual productions, teaching materials, video and podcast productions, as well as information on the projects developed.
