CIAC researchers are guest editors in the next number of Rhinocervs journal
The journal RHINOCERVS: Cinema, Dance, Music, Theatre has launched a Call for Papers for the thematic dossier “Art in the Feminine”, with the participation of Mirian Tavares, Vice-Coordinator of CIAC, and María Jesús Botana Vilar, CIAC researcher, as guest editors. Article submissions are open until 15 February 2026.
The initiative proposes a critical reflection on the historical and structural conditions that have shaped the visibility of women in the artistic field. While art should not, in principle, be defined by gender, the dossier highlights the persistence of inequalities in the writing of Art History, largely constructed through male-centred narratives that have relegated many women artists to invisibility or marginal positions within artistic canons and critical discourse.
The dossier “Art in the Feminine” welcomes contributions from both artistic practice and theoretical research, including reflections by artists, studies based on creative processes, artistic research, curatorial practices and experimental projects. Texts that articulate practice and theory are particularly encouraged, especially those that explore situated methodologies and critical strategies contributing to a more plural and integrated understanding of women’s artistic production.
With the participation of Mirian Tavares and María Jesús Botana Vilar in the editorial coordination of this dossier, CIAC strengthens its contribution to the international debate on contemporary transformations in artistic and cultural studies, promoting a platform for critical dialogue that values diversity of perspectives and recognises the central role of women in artistic production.
The complete call can be found in the journal’s website.
