CIAC Researchers Join COST Action and Present Papers at the International Event “Genealogies of Deliberation” in Slovakia

Researchers Sílvia Leiria Viegas and Isabel Cristina Carvalho continue to strengthen the international presence and research network of CIAC – Research Centre for Arts and Communication through their active participation in COST Action CA22149 – Research Network for Interdisciplinary Studies of Transhistorical Deliberative Democracy (CHANGECODE).

As part of the research projects developed at CIAC, the University of the Algarve (UAlg), and the Universidade Aberta (UAb), the researchers have been collaborating in various activities and meetings aimed at promoting international networks and interdisciplinary work.

Short-Term Scientific Mission (STSM) in Slovenia

Between June 22 and July 3, 2026, the researchers carried out a 10-working-day Short-Term Scientific Mission (STSM) in Slovenia. Representing CIAC/UAlg/UAb, the mission was hosted by the Institute IRRIS for Research, Development and Strategies of Society, Culture and Environment.

Paper Presentations and Publication in 2027

As a result of this mission and in collaboration with researchers Jan Babnik and Polona Tratnik, two scientific papers were developed and accepted for discussion at the prestigious international event “GENEALOGIES OF DELIBERATION: SPACES, PRACTICES, AND REPRESENTATIONS FROM THE MIDDLE AGES TO THE PRESENT”.

The event will take place in Prešov, Slovakia, on September 30 and October 1, 2026.

The presented papers will subsequently be published in 2027, as part of a special issue organized within the framework of COST Action CHANGECODE.
