CIAC researchers participate in the 3rd National Networks in Cultural Studies Congress

CIAC researchers Gabriela Borges, Sandra Ramos, Andressa Brum, and Valdemir Neto, together with Daiana Sigiliano from UFJF – Universidade Federal de Juiz de Fora, participate in the 3rd Congress of RNEC – National Network in Cultural Studies, taking place on July 11th and 12th at ISCAP, Polytechnic Institute of Porto.

CIAC is organizing a thematic panel proposed by Professor Gabriela Borges titled “Digital Creation and Consumption: Fan Culture, Disinformation, and Media Literacy”, featuring research projects from the Fan Culture Studies group, activism, and media literacy within the Observatory for Audiovisual Quality and the Master’s in Digital Communication and Media.

The panel, comprising four presentations addressing pertinent themes in cultural studies, connects fan culture with emerging fields such as disinformation and digital consumption. The papers analyze contemporary media objects and phenomena, exploring political disinformation on digital networks and issues related to fan activism.

CIAC’s participation in the congress strengthens its partnership with the National Network in Cultural Studies, contributing to the field’s structure and fostering national cooperation in scientific research, thereby expanding research opportunities in cultural studies, communication, and the arts.
