III International Colloquium Cinemas of the Mediterranean – Cinema & Tourism

CIAC’s Film Studies Working Group is organising the 3rd International Mediterranean Cinema Colloquium on 15 and 16 May, with the aim of promoting intercultural dialogue and stimulating the creation of partnerships with a view to researching cinema in Mediterranean countries from an interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary perspective.

The third edition of the colloquium, dedicated to the theme ‘Cinema and Tourism’, will be attended by twenty researchers from Wilmington University (USA), the UK, Brazil, Spain, Italy and Portugal. The event will take place at the University of the Algarve’s Penha Campus, in the ESGHT auditorium (on the 15th) and in auditorium 1.4 of the Pedagogical Complex (on the 16th).

Among the highlights of the programme are the keynote speakers Francisco Teixeira Pinto, Coordinating Professor at the Polytechnic of Leiria and Researcher at CITUR, who will present the paper ‘Film Tourism: Between Dream and Reality’, and Tim Bergfelder, Professor at the University of Southampton (UK), with the paper ‘What Film Studio History Can Teach Us about Architecture, Technological Innovation, and Workspaces’.
