Mirian Tavares to give lecture in Fortaleza on the hyper-aestheticization of the contemporary world
CIAC Vice-Coordinator Mirian Tavares will give the lecture “On Sensitive Knowledge: The Hyper-Aestheticization of the World and Aesthetic Pleasure” on August 28, 2026. The event is promoted by Editora UFC and will take place in Fortaleza, Ceará, Brazil.
The lecture draws on the reflections of French philosopher Yves Michaud on the hyper-aestheticization of the contemporary world, in which even death is transformed into a visual spectacle. Based on Alexander Baumgarten’s concept of “sensitive knowledge,” the lecture proposes reclaiming the transformative potential of encounters with art.
