One Stadium, One City! exhibition at the Penha Campus Library
The exhibition Um Estádio, Uma Cidade! [One Stadium, One City!] — 100 years of the São Luís stadium is on display at the Penha Campus library from September 2 to 28 and can be visited from 9am to 8pm. The exhibition marks the centenary of the São Luís Stadium, a project that was the brainchild of Farense businessman Manuel Silvestre Mendonça dos Santos.
An emblematic space in the city of Faro, the São Luís Stadium has been an important sporting and cultural venue over the last 100 years, where many generations have experienced unforgettable moments. It was officially inaugurated in 1923, and since then it has played host to national and international soccer stars, as well as major cultural events such as concerts by Luciano Pavarotti and Dire Straits.
The exhibition is the result of the winning proposal of the Participatory Budget of the Municipality of Faro in 2023, presented by the member of Sporting Club Farense, Pedro Gonçalves, and organized by the Municipal Museum of Faro with the support of CIAC — Research Center for Arts and Communication of the University of Algarve, curated by researcher Jorge Carrega.
