Researcher Jorge Augusto Santos participates in ICOAH 2024

Jorge Augusto Santos, CIAC researcher, will participate (online) in ICOAH 2024 — 11th International Conference on Arts & Humanities, which will take place in Colombo (Sri Lanka) on September 5 and 6, 2024.

His presentation is entitled “Parallel 3 – Amplified Activism: Transmedia storytelling and digital media art as an engagement strategy in curating an exhibition on gender equality in sport” and is based on the research project he has been developing as a PhD student in Digital Media Art. The scientific article analyzes the intersection between art, activism and gender equality in sport, using a transmedia approach in exhibitions as an engagement strategy. The case study focuses on the “Paralell 3-Cubed Artivism” Digital Art project, which uses transmedia storytelling and mediartivism (media, art, and activism) to promote gender equality in sport through the curation of the exhibition MULHERES NO DESPORTO — Pioneering, Challenges, Inspiration, Equality at the National Sports Museum (Museu Nacional do Desporto)/IPDJ, in Portugal.

ICOAH 2024 explores cutting-edge arts and humanities research, providing a unique platform for global networking and knowledge exchange between educators, researchers, policymakers and stakeholders.

The aim of the conference is to provide a platform for academics, researchers and professionals from diverse backgrounds and disciplines to come together and explore the multifaceted dimensions of the arts and humanities. As the backdrop of the conference theme, “Visioning Futures: Diverse Perspectives, Global Narratives”.

The event has a number of academic partnerships, including the support of CIAC — Research Center for Arts and Communication
