CIAC researchers present the book “Algarve(s): Images of the Natural and Human Environment in Fiction Literature” at the University of Algarve

On March 7, the launch of the book “Algarve(s): Images of the Natural and Human Environment in Fiction Literature” will take place.

The work results from the joint effort of CIAC researchers Ana Cristina Carvalho, Sílvia Quinteiro, and Natália Constâncio, who brought together 14 researchers to analyse 27 works (mostly fiction) by 11 Portuguese writers. It also includes chapters written by Carina Infante do Carmo, João Minhoto Marques, and Adriana Nogueira.

This study seeks to understand the value of literature as an intangible memory of the Algarve, to identify the images and representations of the region portrayed in novels, short stories, and novellas, and to reflect on the potential of these narratives to inspire greater ecological, geographical, and climate awareness among contemporary readers.

The event will take place in the conference room of the Library, at the Gambelas campus of the University of Algarve, at 3:00 p.m., and will be presented by Professor Ana Isabel Soares.
