SEA-EU Film Festival 2025 now open for applications

The SEA-EU Film Festival 2025 is now open for applications. The initiative, promoted by the SEA-EU – European Seas Alliance, aims to showcase the creativity and talent of higher education students through the production of short films.

This year, the festival has a completely open theme—all ideas, styles, and genres are welcome. Videos should be between 3 and 15 minutes long, and the best submissions will be screened in Faro, at the Instituto Superior de Engenharia (ISE), University of Algarve, on 29 October 2025, during the Staff Week “Sea Heritages in the Algarve.”

The videos will be evaluated by an international jury composed of specialists from the SEA-EU universities.

Participation Rules:

• Videos must be in English or have English subtitles
• Each participant may submit only one video
• The video must be original work by the applicant
• Accepted formats: .mov, .mp4, or .avi
• AI-generated videos will not be accepted

Important Dates:

• Video Submission: until 15 September 2025
• Jury Evaluation: 16 to 30 September 2025
• Winners Announcement: by 13 October 2025, on sea-eu.org

Students from all SEA-EU universities, as well as from any other higher education institution, inside or outside the Alliance, are eligible to participate.
