Presentation of the book “Romance de Dom Dinis” will take place on July 20


The book “Romance de Dom Dinis, El-Rey que (nom) fez tudo tudo quanto quis”, written by Natália Constâncio, a researcher at CIAC, will be presented by Dr. Ana Cristina Carvalho (CICS-NOVA-FCSH) on July 20 at 3:00 PM at the Casa de José de Saramago – Óbidos Municipal Library.

Natália Constâncio holds a Master’s degree in Portuguese Literature and a PhD in Portuguese Studies, with a thesis titled “Subversion and Parody in the Works of Mário de Carvalho” (2012). She has published various works, including “Humans, Animals, and Their Equals: Epitome of a Foretold Death, in Mário de Carvalho”, published in “Falas da Terra no Século XXI” (2011), “Ruins and Uncertainties in Um Deus Passeando pela Brisa da Tarde, by Mário de Carvalho” (2007), and “Passion, Treachery, and Death in O Conde Jano, by Mário de Carvalho” (2004), among others.

In this book, she narrates the familial and romantic life of Dom Dinis and Dona Isabel within their historical, social, and religious context. It references the cultural ties that connect the kingdom of Portugal to Castile and Aragon, the influence of Provençal literature on Dom Dinis’s lyric poetry, among other topics.
