UAlg student wins 3rd place in the FIBE 2025 Award


Sandra Ramos Cerqueira, a student of the Master’s in Digital Communication and Media at the University of the Algarve, has won 3rd place in the category “Other Social Sciences – Master’s Dissertations” in the third edition of the FIBE 2025 Award, an initiative promoted by the Brazil–Europe Integration Forum (FIBE).

The distinction was announced on 28 November during a ceremony held at the Lisbon Academy of Sciences. The award recognises academic work that contributes to the study of relations between Brazil and Europe.

The prize-winning dissertation, entitled “’Pátrias’: Action Proposal for the Transformation and Promotion of Media Literacy in a Context of Disinformation about Immigration on Digital Platforms”, was developed under the supervision of Professor Gabriela Borges.

The 2025 edition recorded the highest international participation to date, bringing together work from researchers in Brazil, Spain, Portugal, the United Kingdom and Luxembourg. In addition to public recognition, the winners received a monetary prize, and the publication of the awarded theses and dissertations is also planned.
