The CHIC – Cooperative Holistic View on Internet and Content project, headed by the company Mog Technologies S.A., brings together a broad consortium of 14 companies and 1 sector-specific body (Associação Gestora do Pólo/Cluster) from the main sectors of Portugal’s industrial fabric and also 9 entities within the national scientific system. Partners include the University of Aveiro; the company SISTRADE – Software Consulting, S.A .; the association ‘C.C.G. / ZGDV – Centro de Computação Gráfica’; the company Enigma Virtual, LDA; INESC TEC – Institute of Systems and Computer Engineering, Technology and Science; the Cinemateca Portuguesa – Film Museum; the Universidade Aberta, through CIAC’s centre there; the Instituto Superior de Engenharia Do Porto; the Universidade Católica Portuguesa; the University of Trás-Os-Montes and Alto Douro; the company Global Notícias, Publicações S.A. and the University of Porto. The team at CIAC’s centre at the Universidade Aberta includes researchers Leonel Morgado and Elizabeth Carvalho.
The project, with an envisaged duration of 36 months, is funded by the FEEI/PORTUGAL2020 mobilising programme, with the Thematic Objective TO1: to strengthen research, technological development and innovation and Investment Priority I.P 1.2: to promote business investment in R & I.
The main goals of CHIC are to develop, test and demonstrate a wide range of new processes, products and services of significant interest in the audiovisual and multimedia sectors, but which by their nature will have a mobilising effect on other important cultural sectors, such as cultural heritage, archives, books and publications or the performing arts, other very important areas in which some of the pilots have been developed. To achieve the intended goals, the project will be developed in 4 PPS (Products, Processes or Systems).
